Wondering what you can make in a waffle maker (besides waffles)? There are many different recipes you can make using a waffle iron. I’m sharing my favorite out-of-the-box waffle iron recipe ideas. You’ll want to pin all of them!
Cinnamon Roll Waffles
Waffle iron cinnamon rolls are a super easy (and super yummy) breakfast idea. Click here to see how to make cinnamon rolls in a waffle maker. You can also see the recipe in action in this Pinterest Idea Pin.
Waffle Iron Hash Browns
Looking for a new way to serve up this breakfast side dish? Thaw frozen shredded hash browns and squeeze out as much of the excess moisture as possible. Mix with melted butter and your choice of seasonings then form into balls. Press the balls into the waffle iron and cook until golden.
Waffle Iron Biscuits and Gravy
To make biscuits in a waffle iron, simply cook biscuits from prepared canned biscuit dough in the waffle maker until golden. Serve topped with country or sausage gravy for a twist on this breakfast favorite.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich in a Waffle Iron
If you think about it, there’s not much of a difference between a waffle iron and a panini press. You can make delicious and easy grilled cheese sandwiches using your waffle maker. My tip is to use a bit of mayo on the outside of the bread for the best results!
Waffle Iron Calzone
This waffle iron calzone is so easy, yet so genius that I can’t believe I haven’t been doing it this way for years. In your waffle maker, layer prepared dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and your favorite pizza toppings (like pepperoni), then top with another piece of dough. Cook until golden and serve your waffle iron calzone with marinara sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
Quesadilla in a Waffle Maker
Making a quesadilla in a waffle maker is a no-brainer! It’s probably the easiest, most hands-off way to prepare a quesadilla. To make a waffle iron quesadilla, simply layer your tortillas and cheese in the waffle iron and cook until golden. Top with your favorite quesadilla toppings and enjoy!
Stuffing Waffles
Whether you have leftover stuffing you’re trying to use up, or you just want a new and fun way to serve this traditional holiday side dish, try making stuffing waffles! There are a few ways you can make stuffing in a waffle iron, but the easiest way is to mix leftover stuffing in a bowl with an egg. Pack the stuffing evenly and firmly into the waffle iron and cook until golden. If desired, serve with gravy and other leftover Thanksgiving sides, like cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, and turkey.
Waffle Iron Brownies
You might be surprised to learn that brownies cook up beautifully in a waffle iron! You can start with a box of brownie mix, but you’ll need a slightly different ratio of water, oil, and eggs for the mix to make waffle brownies. Add 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, and 4 eggs to the box of brownie mix. Spray the waffle iron with nonstick spray and pour the batter evenly. Cook until the brownies are cooked through, then serve with ice cream, whipped cream, or your other favorite toppings of choice.
