A key component of any road trip is the music that provides the soundtrack to the journey.  The hubs is known for making some killer playlists, so when we started planning our Southern U.S. road trip, he was assigned with putting something together for us.  I must say, as usual, he did a pretty darn good job!

Here’s the playlist for our recent road trip from Austin to Orlando, and back through Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas.  See the full road trip write-up here: Southern U.S. Family Road Trip Route and Recommendations.

  • “On the Road Again” – Willie Nelson
  • “Born on the Bayou” – CCR
  • “Jambalaya” – Hank Williams, Sr.
  • “Do you know what it’s like to miss New Orleans?” – Louis Armstrong and Billie Holliday
  • “Calling Baton Rouge” – Garth Brooks
  • “Parlez-nou a Boire” – Beausoleil
  • “House of the Rising Sun” – The Animals
  • “When the Saints go Marching In” – Louis Armstrong
  • “Mr. Bojangles” – Jerry Jeff Walker
  • “Hurricane Season” – Trombone Shorty
  • “Mississippi Queen” – Mountain
  • “If you’re gonna play in Texas” – Alabama
  • “Sweet Home Alabama” – Lynyrd Skynyrd
  • “Tallahassee Lassie” – Fleetwood Mac
  • “Everything is Awesome” – Tegan and Sara Ft. The Lonely Island
  • “Savannah (Part One)” – Band of Horses
  • “Georgia on My Mind” – Ray Charles
  • “Moon River” – Johnny Mercer
  • “The Devil went down to Georgia” – Charlie Daniels Band
  • “Sodom South Georgia” – Iron and Wine
  • “ATLiens” – Outkast
  • “Country Grammar” – Nelly
  • “Georgia” – Band of Horses ft. UGA Redcoat Marching Band
  • “Tennessee Mountain Girl” – Rubber Knife Gang
  • “Nashville Bum” – Waylon Jennings
  • “Rhinestone Cowboy” – Glen Campbell
  • “Memphis Skyline” – Rufus Wainwright
  • “Memphis Tennessee” – Elvis Presley
  • “Back to Memphis” – Chuck Berry
