The event kicked off with the BERNINA Fashion Fund Showcase, where designers with less than 3 years on their own label present 5-look runway collections in a competition for two awards.
In addition to the competition, the opening night also featured a few full collections on the runway. Through that evening, and the collections shown each of the subsequent evenings, a few trend themes to look out for became clear. Here are the trends to watch this fall/winter:
Sparkle
Youthful Whimsy
A theme of youth (think bows and childlike silhouettes) was present, not only in the styles presented, but also through the youth designers Fashion X featured throughout the show this year.
Menswear
Between the Mexicana/Latin vibes of Adrienne Yunger‘s presentation, the African inspiration, and even Egyptian throwbacks, many of the designers incorporated global fashion inspiration into their collections.
