I have worked in collaboration with one of our partners to provide you with the below post.
For most women, jeans are a wardrobe staple. They certainly are for me. Rarely a week goes by without me wearing one of my favorite pairs.
The winter is a great time to go jean shopping. During the colder months, stores and online retailers like JD Williams always offer a better selection of jeans. So, shopping for them now greatly increases the odds of your finding that perfect pair. Here are a few tips to help you to do that.
Check out the latest trends
I always like to find out what cuts have fallen out of fashion and which ones are coming on trend. Doing this encourages me to try out different looks and keep myself as up to date fashion wise, as possible. Instagram is a great resource for seeing what your favorite fashionistas are wearing.
Recheck your size
If it has been a while since you last bought a pair of jeans, I suggest that you remeasure yourself. Over the course of a year, or so your body had bound to have changed shape. So, you could think you are a size 12 when in fact you actually need a size 14. This may still be the case even if the jeans you are currently wearing are a size 12. That is because, over time, the fibres would have stretched and separated a little, leaving the jeans slightly bigger when you bought them. This article explains how to measure yourself properly for a pair of jeans.
Choose a pair that will coordinate with your wardrobe
Jeans look good with most items of clothing. But some cuts look better than others with certain styles. This is something you need to bear in mind when selecting a pair. You want to be sure that they will look good with the clothes, shoes, or boots that you already own.
Practical considerations
The jeans you choose need to be practical too. For example, if you regularly ride a bicycle / push bike buying a pair of flares is probably not a good idea. Unless you wear bike clips you will find that the legs will keep getting caught in the chain. Not fun!
Check the quality
Most denim is made to a high standard. One of the best things about jeans is their durability. However, in recent times, poor quality denim has started to be manufactured. Naturally, you want to avoid buying jeans from this type of material. Generally speaking, the thicker the denim is the longer it will last and the better it will hang. If you prefer to wear a more lightweight version, turn the jeans inside out and look at the weave. Pull the fabric and make sure that the weave stays tight. If it does, your jeans should still last and retain their shape. It is also a good idea to test the strength of the seams.
