About Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank
Get ready for some fun and adventure the whole family will enjoy! In this fun-filled family adventure, hard-on-his-luck hound named Hank (Michael Cera) finds himself in a town full of cats who need a hero to defend them from a ruthless villain’s (Ricky Gervais) evil plot to wipe their village off the map. With help from a reluctant teacher (Samuel L. Jackson) to train him, our underdog must assume the role of town samurai and team up with the villagers to save the day. The only problem… cats hate dogs! Also starring Mel Brooks, George Takei, Aasif Mandvi, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, Michelle Yeoh, Kylie Kuioka, and Cathy Shim, this star-studded film will have everyone in the family laughing and cheering. Paws of Fury Cat and Dog Party Theme Inspiration
The inspiration for planning this Paws of Fury at-home watch party were the characters themselves. We decided on a dog and cat (or puppy and kitten) party theme. We included lots of fun pet puns for the names of the food and drink, cat and dog themed party food, and a paw print motif (nodding to the movie’s name, “Paws” of Fury). All the ideas for our dog and cat party are easy to put together, but come together so adorably, and the creative ideas are endless.
Cat and Dog Themed Party Food Ideas
When it came to planning food ideas for a cat and dog themed party for Paws of Fury, we had a lot of fun with various cat, dog, paw, and pet puns. The ideas were endless, but all fun for the whole family. Here’s what we made.
“Doggie Bags” Snack Mix
I made a snack mix with popcorn (a requirement for a movie watch party) to munch on during the movie. The snack mix was served in brown lunch bags with a bone-shaped tag that says “Doggie Bag” that I made with my Cricut Joy.
What you need to make the snack mix:
- Kettle corn
- Caramel corn
- Golden Grahams cereal
- Mini marshmallows
- Whoppers candy
- White chocolate chips
- Pretzel Goldfish crackers
Directions:
- Toss all ingredients together in a large bowl until well mixed
- Serve in snack baggies to enjoy while watching Paws of Fury
Bone-Shaped Sandwich Bites
We made turkey and cheese mini sandwich bites by cutting the bread, meat, and cheese with a bone-shaped cookie cutter. You can make these with any bread, meat, cheese, and/or veggie combos you like!
Goldfish Crackers and Cheetos Paws
We served Goldfish Crackers and Cheetos Paws in fishbowl vases as a subtle reference to cats for this cat and dog themed party.
Pizza Training Station
We set up a make-your-own mini pizzas station as a reference to the pizza-making training scene between Jimbo and Hank in the Paws of Fury movie. This is a fun idea for the whole family and any friends you invite over for your Paws of Fury Watch Party. Who doesn’t love pizza, especially when you get to customize it yourself?
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Pre-made mini pizza crusts
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Mini pepperoni
- Sausage crumbles
- Your favorite veggie toppings for pizzas (mushrooms, olives, onions, etc.)
“Pupcakes”
Cupcakes can easily become “pupcakes” with this simple paw print design on top! Simply add a sandwich cookie (like an OREO) and four brown M&Ms, Reese’s Pieces, or Whoppers to the top of your favorite cupcake recipe.
Le-MEOW-nade
Kids love a good cup of lemonade, and we gave it a kitty cat spin for our cat and dog party by calling it “le-meow-nade.”
Milk Bar
Also inspired by the movie’s feline characters, we set up a milk bar with regular, chocolate, and strawberry milk served in carafes.
Puppy and Kitten Party Supplies and Decorations
If you’re wondering what puppy and kitten party supplies you’ll need to decorate for a Paws of Fury watch party, there are lots of PAWsome ideas for a PAWty like this. See what I did there? The primary motif for this party is PAW prints! Here are the dog and cat party decorations we used.
Backdrop and Food Table
Our cat and dog themed party backdrop was easy to put together, but came out so cute! I didn’t want to take it down. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Small balloon banners across the backdrop that say “WOOF” and “MEOW” (purchased from Party City)
- Paw print balloons (I used the paw print balloons leftover from this set I got for my PAW Patrol party)
- Paw print tablecloth (this set comes with three, so one can also work as a backdrop if you don’t have a plain white backdrop like the one I used)
“Pup Cups” and “Kitty Cups”
No, I’m not talking about the Puppuccino, but I do love the play on words! These are paper cups (found at Party City) simply decorated with some craft foam and googly eyes (from Michaels) to look like dogs and cats for serving the dog and cat party beverages. I used hot glue to attach the ears, eyes, and tongues, and a black Sharpie marker to hand-draw the other details.
Food Signs
We included some food signs with the movie theme to bring Hank and Jimbo more prominently into our cat and dog themed party. Click here to get the free Paws of Fury food signs printable.
