Wilton commissioned me to create a recipe for World Baking Day, and I knew it was the perfect time to share a new Puerto Rican recipe. I decided to make a Puerto Rican guava pastries recipe, AKA a pastelillos de guayaba recipe. Pastelillos de Guayaba are a popular Puerto Rican guava puff pastry turnover filled with guava paste, and sometimes, cream cheese in addition to the guava. They are wonderful served with café con leche for a breakfast treat. Typically baked in the oven, this guava pastry version is prepared in the air fryer.
