Our kids are obsessed over the How to Train Your Dragon series. In truth, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that our whole family loves it, mom and dad included. So it was a little bittersweet when we picked up the 3rd and final movie of the trilogy on DVD last week. But while we’re sad the series is over, we are so excited to own the How to Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set so that we can watch it as much as we want! Bonus – the gift set (available only at Walmart) includes Funko keychains of Toothless and Light Fury! Head to Walmart and purchase the new release of today!

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TrainYourDragonAtWalmart http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

There is so much that we love about How to Train Your Dragon 3, but one of the best things about it has to be the new female dragon, Light Fury! We also love the themes of friendship and teamwork that have been there throughout the series, whether it’s the maturing relationship between Hiccup and Toothless or the relationship between Hiccup and his friends, who always have his back. There’s so much to love about the franchise, and it makes for a really fun party theme. Today I’m sharing some super easy (and I mean ridiculously easy) treats for a How to Train Your Dragon-themed party. These easy DIY dragon party ideas are great for a watch party with the new How to Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set, or a How to Train Your Dragon birthday party for your little dragon lovers.

Not just the DVD, Walmart has a lot of fun How to Train Your Dragon apparel and toys that the kiddos will love, too. The boys wanted matching t-shirts and each chose a dragon toy so they could battle each other. We got the toys online at Walmart.com and used the free “pick up in store” option, which was not only super convenient, but we also got to pick them up from the cool Pickup Tower. It’s like a giant vending machine that gives you your order! Have you seen one of these yet? We got such a kick out of it.

Here are some easy food ideas for a How to Train Your Dragon themed party! You’ll want to pin these easy DIY party ideas.

Night Fury Popcorn Snack Mix for a How to Train Your Dragon themed party

What you need:

  • Popcorn
  • Black candy melts
  • Green candy-coated chocolate candy pieces
  • Fish gummy candies
  • Black bowls
  • Green paper
  • Black marker

Put popcorn in a bowl, and drizzle with melted black candy melts. Add green candies and fish (Toothless’ favorite food is fish).

Cut out ovals from green paper, and use a black marker to draw pupils for these eyes. Tape these eyes onto the black bowls to make them look like Toothless!

Toothless and Light Fury Dipped Cookies for a How to Train Your Dragon themed party

What you need:

  • Sandwich cookies
  • Black candy melts
  • White candy melts
  • Light green, light blue, and black sparkle gel cake decorating icing
  • Wax paper

One color at a time, dip one side of the sandwich cookies into melted black or white candy melts. Place on wax paper and let sit until the candy coating dries and hardens. After it has dried, use the green decorating icing to draw eyes onto the black cookies, and blue to draw eyes onto the white cookies. Use the black decorating icing to add the pupils to the eyes.

Easy Toothless and Light Fury Cupcakes for a How to Train Your Dragon themed party

What you need:

  • Chocolate cupcakes with black icing (pre-made or your favorite recipe)
  • White cupcakes with white icing (pre-made or your favorite recipe)
  • Light green, light blue, and black sparkle gel cake decorating icing

Use the green decorating icing to draw eyes onto the black frosting of the chocolate cupcakes, and blue to draw eyes onto the white cupcakes. Use the black decorating icing to add pupils to the eyes.

I am sure there are a lot of other fun and easy How to Train Your Dragon party décor ideas riffing off these ones. Black and green, white and blue for a color scheme, and making little Toothless and Light Fury heads on everything. Fun and easy!

The look on my oldest’s face when he’s done with taking pictures and just wants to watch the movie and eat snacks is priceless!

Don’t forget to head to Walmart and purchase the new release of today!
