Ahhhh, back-to-school. That time of year where get back into our routines. While it’s a bummer that the summer must come to an end, routine is good for everyone. The problem is that getting back into a routine can be tough at first. School mornings are especially crazy for us parents as we get back into our groove of getting not only ourselves ready, but getting our kids fed, clothed, and packed for the school day. For me, the key has always been prep – the more I have prepped in advance, the less we have to do on those busy school mornings while trying to get everyone out the door. Today I’m sharing some super easy ways to prep for school lunches so you can put together a delicious and easy kids bento lunchbox idea. It includes a few simple recipes that can be prepped in advance, and it’s all made easier thanks to Walmart’s Online Grocery Service and some of our favorite lunchbox essentials: Kleenex® Brand Wet Wipes™ Gentle Clean for Hands and Face and Nabisco Fun Shapes! Cookies & Crackers 20 Count Variety Pack.

Hover over this image and click through to shop these lunchbox must-haves from Walmart with easy Online Grocery pick-up service!

If you haven’t tried Walmart’s Online Grocery Service yet, you have no idea how much you need this in your life! It is so convenient to be able to pick-up my groceries from my Walmart store in a drive-by pick-up at a scheduled time During back-to-school season, I can even order school supplies with this service. Plus, they don’t charge any additional fees for this service, you just need to place a minimum order of $30 It’s like having a personal shopper! Anything that saves time and effort, especially during the busy back-to-school rush, is a winner in my book!

I just load up my online cart…

…and they bring it to my car at my scheduled pick-up window.

Here’s how to save time prepping a delicious back-to-school bento lunch box for your kids (with easy recipes and shortcuts!)

Step 1: Take a shortcut on your lunchbox dessert with a perfectly portioned and kid-friendly pack from the Nabisco Fun Shapes! Cookies & Crackers Variety Pack. This 20-pack box contains Mini Chips Ahoy!, Teddy Grahams Honey, Teddy Grahams Chocolate, and Barnum’s Animal Crackers. They fit perfectly into a lunch box.

Step 2: Include some fresh fruit or vegetables. I personally use whatever I’ve got leftover in the fridge so it doesn’t go to waste, but some of our favorites are blueberries, grapes, strawberries, mandarin oranges, carrot sticks, and cherry tomatoes.

Step 3: Put together a speedy-but-wholesome main. One of my go-to’s (since it can be prepped in just minutes) are these Easy Chicken Hummus Wraps.

EASY CHICKEN HUMMUS WRAPS

What you need:

  • Whole wheat tortillas
  • Hummus
  • Sliced chicken deli meat

How to make them:

Spread some hummus on one side of a whole wheat tortilla.

Lay slices of deli meat chicken over the hummus.

Roll, then slice.

It’s that easy! And they taste really good, too.

Step 4: Add a pre-prepped pasta salad side dish. You might be surprised at how easy it is to throw this delicious Italian Bow-Tie Pasta Salad together. Make it on a Sunday afternoon and it will be ready for you to add to lunches for a few days!

ITALIAN BOW-TIE PASTA SALAD

What you need:

  • 12 oz. pack bow-tie pasta, cooked according to package directions
  • ½ cup Italian salad dressing
  • ½ cup sliced black olives (or more, to taste)
  • ½ cup cherry or grape tomatoes (or more, to taste)

How to make them:

Toss cooked pasta with Italian dressing, then mix in the sliced black olives. Time-saving tip: Using pre-sliced black olives saves tons of time when prepping this pasta salad.

Mix in cherry or grape tomatoes.

Store in a storage container, then spoon portions into a bento lunchbox as needed each day.

Step 5: With all this yumminess for the kids, I like to be prepared for them to clean up their messy hands and faces before and after digging in. We love Kleenex® Brand Wet Wipes™ Gentle Clean for Hands and Face, as they are thick and soft, are made specifically for hands, face, and body, and contain no harsh chemicals!

It’s easy enough for me to slip a whole pack in my kids’ bags to use as they need at lunch or at other times as needed, and we just re-stock from Walmart Online Grocery pick-up when one of them gets low.

Pin these kid’s lunch box ideas to make them later, and don’t forget to check out Walmart’s Online Grocery Service to get Kleenex® Brand Wet Wipes™ Gentle Clean for Hands and Face and the Nabisco Fun Shapes! Cookies & Crackers Variety Pack.
