As you may know, my family has been making swaps in our lives to live more sustainably. While we know the importance of using disinfecting cleaning products for health reasons, we decided last year to incorporate some green cleaning products to our house cleaning products. So now, we can have a non-toxic option that’s safe to use where my kids and dogs play. After doing some research, we decided to go with 98% naturally derived Art of Green® products (save $1 on Art of Green® at H-E-B now!) Not only do they work amazingly well, but they smell fantastic (they are available in two scents: Lavender Eucalyptus and Citrus and White Flowers). They’re also conveniently available at my H-E-B store, when I’m safely picking up my usual groceries. Now Art of Green® Lavender Eucalyptus Multi-surface Spray Cleaner is our go-to product that’s both good for the environment and safe to use for the surfaces where my kids and dogs play. I’m sure your cleaning time has increased over the past few months as we disinfect a bit more, which is why I love to incorporate Art of Green products in between my regular disinfection sessions.
For one of our new year’s resolutions this year, we’ve been making new eco-friendly swaps in our lives each month. So, this year we started using Art of Green® Lavender Eucalyptus Wipes as well. Today, I’m sharing not only why we have been happy with Art of Green®, but also what’s important for you to look for if you’re considering incorporating greener cleaners into your home cleaning routine.
Look for eco-friendly packaging, ingredients, and methods
Protecting the environment is very important to my family, and it’s one of the primary reasons we made the switch to green cleaning products. Here is what we look for:
- One of the first things we look for is the packaging. Ideally, you want something that’s made from a high percentage of recycled materials, and that the packaging itself can be recycled. Art of Green® bottles are made with 100% post-consumer recycled materials.
- We also look for what the product is made from. What is the impact from the ingredients it is derived from? Is it sustainably sourced? Ethically tested? Art of Green® meets my standards here, as well. They are USDA-certified, bio-based products and are not tested on animals.
- Art of Green® cleaning liquid is also a biodegradable formula.
Make sure the ingredients don’t harm the environment, your body, or the health of your loved ones
As natural products are best, not only for the environment but for us, ingredients are important. You want to look for products that are:
- naturally derived (meaning that they come from real, natural things), and
- non-toxic.
These are part of the reasons we started using the Art of Green® Multi-surface Spray Cleaner last year. When we realized that Art of Green® products are not just environmentally-friendly, but also a safe alternative. The next step for us was to try Art of Green® Wipes. Since our kids are old enough to help us with cleaning now, we love to include them with chores like tidying up and sweeping around the house. I love that Art of Green® cleaning solution is a dermatologically-tested and hypoallergenic formula, so it is safe for sensitive skin and my family.
Products that are non-toxic, 98% naturally derived, and hypoallergenic give me so much peace of mind when using them in spaces like my kitchen, on surfaces the boys play on, and areas where our two pugs roam.
Don’t sacrifice effectiveness for eco-friendly and natural products
I know from my experience of using Art of Green® that they are very effective cleaning products. My counters shine, and my surfaces smell so nice (they have a very pleasant aroma from the natural essential oils they are made with). Art of Green® sprays and wipes are tough on dirt, grease, and grime—all of which are part of everyday life. So using them regularly works very well for my everyday clean and they’re perfect to give your surfaces a break in between regular disinfecting rounds. Some things to note: while they clean well, Art of Green® does not disinfect or kill germs (you’ll want to still use traditional cleaning products for your germ-fighting needs), and Art of Green® cannot fight allergens.
