The #FabFam loves a good road trip. It’s always been one of our preferred ways to travel, as we have found that so many of a trip’s memories are made on the journey, and not just at the destination. The sites we see and things we experience along the way end up being some of our favorite parts of a trip. It really is true that half the adventure is getting there, so we take road trips (both short and long) several times a year. Whether it’s a road trip through our local Hill Country to the river, a drive down to the Gulf Coast, or a multi-state tour, we love it all, and rely on our trusty vehicles to get us there and back safely and comfortably. Now more than ever road trips seem to be the ideal way to travel, but it’s not as easy as just hopping in the car and going. Your vehicle needs to be safe and ready to handle your road trip adventures, and tires play a critical role in a vehicle’s road trip preparedness.
My sports sedan needed new tires recently. I knew that is was important to look for a tire that could not only handle my car’s sporty performance for everyday driving, but also offered the handling, safety, and longevity features needed for our road trip adventures. Tires are an immensely important aspect when ensuring your vehicle is road trip ready, so today I’m sharing what you should look for in tires for a road trip. I decided on Hercules Tires, because no matter where you go or what you drive, Hercules tires will get you there safely and confidently (I love their slogan “Ride On Our Strength”). What you should look for in tires for a road trip
The tires I chose for my sports sedan are the ultra-high performance RAPTIS® R-T5, as they are built for not only confident control and performance, but also for longevity and versatility. Whether on long road trips or for everyday local errands, these have me covered for a long time. Hercules carries several types of tires depending on your specific vehicle’s needs, but if you’re looking for a tire that will take you on long journeys in addition to the journeys of everyday life, here are the things you should look for.
A trusted brand that puts customers’ safety first. I value this about Hercules Tires, and appreciate that they state it in their Performance Promise Plan: Whatever you drive, and wherever you’re going, you can trust Hercules tires to get you there safely and securely. For years, we have proudly provided our customers with the promise of superior protection, so they can always drive with confidence. And we put our promise in writing. It’s simply an extension of the way we’ve always done business, putting our customers first and placing fairness and integrity above all. Because we understand what’s riding on your tires. And we want you to know you can count on Hercules to keep it protected.
Longer wear and tire life. 1,000 miles away from home or in a remote part of a national park is not the moment you want to learn your tire has reached its end of life. Look for features that enhance tire life and allow for longer wear.
Control and handling. Whether you’re on the open road or on small country roads, you may need to respond quickly to objects, animals, or other vehicles. Features for control and tighter handling on your tires can ensure a smooth and safe response. My Raptis R-T5 tires include 3D UltraWave™ siping and an asymmetric tread design for greater control and tighter handling.
Traction and grip. While these are always important features for any tires, traction and grip are especially important if you plan to take your vehicle on road trips. You will need to ensure your tires perform well on roads and in driving situations unfamiliar to you. The high-grade silica tread compound and Hercules EvacuTrack™ grooves on my Raptis R-T5 tires provide for better wet traction, and the wide footprint increases contact with the road surface for better control and maximum grip. This gives me confidence both around town and on trips.
Versatility for terrain and temperature. Similarly, changes in terrain and temperature while on road trips require tires that can handle it all safely and without affecting the tire’s longevity. My Raptis R-T5 tires have the highest traction grading possible, plus a CoolCourse™ temperature control system that optimizes performance and enhances tire life.
