In what feels like both the longest and fastest year ever, here we are in the second half of November. That means that, ready or not, the holidays are upon us. It also means that it’s time for my annual What to Wear, Where outfit inspiration guide for the holidays! The 2020 edition is a little different considering that the holidays (and holiday events) are all a little different this year. But if you are looking for a little bit of normalcy, I recommend still getting festive. We all need reasons to dress up every once in a while! In today’s guide I’ve got you covered from Thanksgiving, to the office Zoom holiday party, to Christmas and New Years, and everything in between. Along with outfit inspo and shoppable links, I’m also sharing some key winter 2020/2021 fashion trends to know. These looks are all from my go-to SHEIN (at amazing prices – seriously, the sales right now are ridiculous!). When you shop don’t forget to use my code fabeveryday315 to save an additional 15% off your entire order at SHEIN! Coupon valid for any purchase on the US SHEIN site through 12/31/20. Without further ado, here is my What to Wear, Where guide for 2020! Happy shopping!
Thanksgiving
Argyle is a pattern to watch this season. A great way to incorporate it is with a sweater. Pair it with a pleated skirt and some classic pearls and you’ve got a classy but comfortable Thanksgiving look. Click here to shop the argyle sweater (on sale for $10 right now!).
Family Photos
Since we won’t be seeing much of our family this year, those photo holiday cards are going to be more important than ever. This colorblock off-the-shoulder sweater is cute, comfy, and easy to coordinate with the rest of your family’s looks for your annual holiday card photos.
Holiday Shopping
Start your holiday shopping early so you can easily social distance and avoid big crowds. Or, see how much you can get done from the comfort of your couch. Either way, for holiday shopping marathons, comfort is key. You can do it while incorporate the seasonal trend of gold with this $20 Gold Bomber Jacket paired with a tee, distressed jeans, and the season’s must-have combat-style Lace-up Front Lug Sole Chunky Boots (this pair is $40).
Tree Farm
Tartan pattern overcoats are a key trend right now. This $32 coat from SHEIN will do you well for any outdoor activities this season, like a visit to the Christmas tree farm or an outdoor tree lighting. Wear it with this season’s trendy combo of crop jeans and booties.
Drive-Through Lightshow
Even though some of our holiday activities will keep us inside our own car, like drive-through light shows, that doesn’t mean you can’t pull an outfit together for the occasion. This one is warm, comfortable, functional and stylish with the trend of fringe-detailed sweaters and shiny faux leather pants. The sweater is $21 (shop it here) and the comfy high-waist leggings are only $12 (shop them here).
Virtual Holiday Party
Whether your office is doing their holiday party over Zoom or your friends are doing a Facetime get-together, come (virtually) in style! An unexpected but hot trend this year is richly colored faux leather dresses like this one (and it’s on sale for – wait for it – $11!!). This look also brings in the romantic sleeves trend, the burnt orange/rust color trend, and the combat boot trend (shop these boots: Lace-up Front Lug Sole Chunky Boots).
Baking with Family
The tradition of holiday baking, or holiday pasteles or tamales making, may be smaller this year, but is still an important tradition. You’ll need your hands and arms free, so this warm and stylish argyle poncho will serve you well. It is so comfy that you’ll find yourself reaching for it over and over this winter.
Christmas Eve
I always see Christmas Eve as an opportunity to dress up and get festive. Wear some red (like this blouse) and the season’s trendy gold (like this amazing ruffle-trim wrap skirt, which is on sale for only $9!), put some holiday music on, and grab a glass of coquito and you’ll feel rightly merry and bright.
Christmas Day
If you go red on Christmas Eve, then why not go green for Christmas Day? This comfy and chic two-piece cable knit sweater dress is perfect for the occasion. Style tip: this year it’s trendy to pair sweater dresses with over-the-knee boots.
New Years Eve
Though we may not be at a party, my family will do it up by ourselves at home for New Years Eve this year. Fringe is where it’s at for party dresses, so get yourself one like this $14 bodycon number to channel your inner flapper girl. The quality of this one is shockingly good for the price tag!
New Years Day
Another lovely example of the fringe-detail sweater trend is this pretty $11 pullover. Look to the new year ahead in comfort and style as you dream up your goals and plans. The hat is from my go-to hat shop, Tenth Street Hats. Check out this one and more women’s hats like it here: Wide Brim Hats.
