What you need to make these air-fried apple fritters
To make this air fryer apple fritter recipe, you’ll need an air fryer and the following ingredients:
- 1 (16.3-ounce) can homestyle buttermilk biscuits
- 1 (21-ounce) can Premium Lucky Leaf Apple Fruit Filling or Topping*
- Butter-flavored cooking spray
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
*Variation Tip: You can mix this recipe up by trying different fruit filling options! Since Lucky Leaf has several delicious fruit flavors (including No Sugar Added and USDA Organic options), the recipe possibilities are endless. I recommend trying them with Blueberry (and a bit of lemon zest), Cherry, Peach, or Strawberry (with powdered sugar instead of the sugar and fall spices). How to make this air fryer apple fritter recipe
To make these easy air-fried apple fritters, start by lining the bottom of an air fryer basket with parchment paper (I find it helpful to cut a piece that is the same size as the bottom of the basket) and spray with butter-flavored cooking spray. Separate the biscuit dough into 8 biscuits, then separate each biscuit in half so you have 16 pieces of dough. Press each piece of dough out into a 4-inch circle.
Spoon 1 heaping tablespoonful of the Premium Lucky Leaf Apple Fruit Filling or Topping into the center of each round. Fold the edges of the dough up and over the filling, pinching to seal well. It’s OK if you see some small holes in the biscuit dough, as the dough will expand while air frying, sealing up those holes.
In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and pumpkin pie spice together, then set it aside. This is going to be the yummy fall-spiced sugar coating for your easy air fryer apple fritters later.
Place the fritters on top of the parchment paper in the basket in a single layer, seam side down, without touching (you may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer – it took me two batches in my air fryer). Spray the tops of the fritters with more of the butter-flavored cooking spray. Set the air fryer temperature to 330° F and cook for 8 minutes (do not preheat first). After 8 minutes, carefully turn the fritters using tongs (they will be hot!), then cook for an additional 2 to 4 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and evenly golden.
Remove the air-fried apple fritters from the air fryer basket with tongs and spray them with more butter-flavored cooking spray before rolling them in the cinnamon-spice mixture to coat generously.
