how to make Krabby Patty Cupcakes
Here is how to make Krabby Patty Cupcakes, in the precise order of ingredients from the show.
Bun
Make the yellow cake mix into 24 cupcakes per package directions and let cool completely. Cut the cupcakes in half horizontally to make your SpongeBob Krabby Patty Cupcakes “buns” and separate the tops from the bottoms. Note: You will have extra buns; feel free to frost and enjoy them however you want!
Patty
Make the brownie mix in a 9”x13” pan lined with parchment paper per package directions and let cool completely. Lift the parchment paper to remove the brownies from the pan and cut brownies into as many circles as you can using a 2.5” cookie cutter to create your Krabby Patty “burger patties” (you should be able to get 10-12 patties). Layer a brownie circle on top of the bottom buns.
Now it’s time to layer the toppings. The ingredients should be placed in the precise order described below, which is the confirmed order as shared on the SpongeBob SquarePants show.
Lettuce
Mix shredded coconut with green food coloring in a small bowl to make “lettuce.” Sprinkle on top of the patties.
Cheese
Lay a few pieces of the orange Starburst candies on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave for 5-10 seconds to soften the candies, then flatten two pieces together to make a larger square using the base of a mason jar or small bowl to make “cheese slices” for your SpongeBob Krabby Patty Cupcakes. Repeat for the desired amount of burgers, then add the cheese pieces on top of the lettuce.
Onions
Cut marshmallows into thin, round slices to make “onions.” Layer on top of the cheese.
Tomatoes
Use the cap of a plastic drink bottle to cut round circles into the fruit strips to make “tomatoes.” Add to the burgers on top of the onions.
Ketchup and Mustard
Next, pipe red cake decorating icing “ketchup” followed by yellow cake decorating icing “mustard” on top of the onion layer (in that order).
Pickles
Add green gummy rings “pickle slices” on top of the mustard.
Sesame Seed Bun
Add the top bun on top of all the burger toppings. Dot a few small dots of the yellow icing on top of the buns, and attach pieces of rice cereal to the icing to look like “sesame seeds” for the SpongeBob Krabby Patty Cupcakes.
