Creative ways to refresh your home décor

Sometimes, finding tips to enhance your home décor can be quite overwhelming – talk of the endless scrolls on Pinterest, thousands of Instagram handles and so on. And perhaps your tight schedule does not allow for that. How do you go about such situations? Remember, home has to be the last place you find boring because that is where you return after the hustle and bustle of life.

A few tips and tricks can really help you bring life to this space. And because we are aware that you might actually be busy, we have organized these tips in a simple way to get you ahead. So, why waste any more time? Read on.

Start with your walls

While it’s pretty much easier to agree that a room is incomplete without comfortable furniture, it’s sometimes hard to figure out what to do with empty walls. In fact, some homeowners and renters often ignore them altogether. But we are not without hope. For instance, wall murals can improve the space by creating a focal point, adding depth, dimension and personality.

Large-scale art can also really come in handy. You may want to try a black-and-white photo, especially if a room is minimalistic. A gallery wall could be a great way of displaying interests and souvenirs and adding new breadth to your space. But to ensure it is successful, plan well and have enough hierarchy in terms of color and size.

Moldings can work well for those with bright sofas, intricate lighting and patterned rugs. For Parisian style enthusiasts, this can be an efficient way of adding a sophisticated look to their space. And when dealing with accent walls, always be strategic.

Some experts suggest using art or screen dividers when painting such walls to allow for seamless integration. And, of course, we can never ignore the power of mirrors. If your space is relatively small, hanging a large mirror proportionally can make it feel more expansive by reflecting light.

Take advantage of curtains

Beyond using curtains to just block light and for privacy, do you actually know that they can add a lot of life to your space? The good thing is that you don’t have to break the bank to have the best of them. There are numerous cheap options with varying designs, colors and patterns to suit every taste.

Some professionals say curtain dividers can work better than solid dividers or new walls because they blend into the décor and feel less imposing. They are quite flexible, making them an excellent option for small spaces. Even if a space is large, curtain dividers can offer great noise-blocking advantages.

For homes without interior doors, curtain doors can be an affordable way of providing privacy without entirely blocking off the room. The best part is that they have more pattern and color options than wooden doors and can really help elevate your room. But if you already have an existing door, you can still install a front door curtain.

Depending on the look you want, curtains offer more room and flexibility compared to wooden doors. Plus, replacement is not complicated when you need it. Old-school portieres will help in places with large open doorways by adding depth, warmth and texture. Also, using long curtains can make the space feel a bit luxurious.

Can furniture help improve home aesthetics?

Just as the saying goes, ‘In a house, your wall knows your joys, your room holds your memories, and your living room defines your emotions,’ every aspect, including furniture, matters in home décor. You don’t just want a comfortable, sleek modern sofa or rustic dining table; you want one that adds to the aesthetics of your space.

Before updating the furniture, consider the following:

  • Your current space and try to envision the desired ambiance to determine whether you want a classic or modern feel
  • The size of your room to avoid overwhelming it
  • Your lifestyle needs like frequent social gatherings
  • Mix and match styles, textures and finishes
  • Combining accessories like mirrors and rugs with the furniture

Actually, if you aren’t going to replace your furniture, these accessories might really help. Maybe all that your space needs is a little bling. Finishing touches like chic vases and eye-catching art pieces will jazz up your existing furniture. Plus, instead of replacing existing furniture, integrating its color shade into your new designs may also work well.

To improve the appeal even more, try layering the sofas and beds with cushions and throws. You may also want to personalize existing dining and coffee tables to suit your new look. Table runners and mats are your best friends, and they may help create a dynamic space. For a more personal touch, combine different cultural influences, eras, and elements and see how your space evolves magically.

Wrapping up

Given that we tend to get overly busy at times, giving your home a fresh look can be daunting. Think of the millions of resources you have to explore within your fixed schedule. Knowing this, we have crafted ideas that are easy for you to follow along.

Remember, you do not always have to break the bank to get a fresh look. Styling your space is in the details, and you can be good to go with just a small budget. First, envision what you want in the new look and try to build upon it with these simple hacks.
