Thundermans Cape Craft inspired by The Thundermans: Undercover

The Thundermans: Undercover is a brand-new spinoff series based on characters from the original live-action show. The first episode premiered Wednesday, January 22 on Nickelodeon. The half-hour series follows Phoebe and Max as they are sent undercover to handle a new threat in the beachside town of Secret Shores and bring Chloe along to develop her superhero talent. The Thundermans: Undercover will air regularly Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon, and it’s available to watch or buy on digital now!

The Thundermans: Undercover stars original series cast members Kira Kosarin as “Phoebe,” Jack Griffo as “Max,” and Maya Le Clark as “Chloe.” The show also stars Daran Norris as “Thunderford,” and Dana Snyder as the voice of “Dr. Colosso,” as well as new cast members Kinley Cunningham as “Booch” and Nathan Broxton as “Jinx.”

What you need for this cape craft

To make this DIY kids cape craft, you’ll need the following materials and supplies:

  • 1 yard dark blue flannel or felt fabric
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Plate
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Velcro
  • 1 piece of yellow felt
  • 1 piece of red felt
  • 1 piece of light blue felt

How to make your own superhero cape

Here’s how to make your own superhero cape inspired by The Thundermans: Undercover:

  1. Fold the dark blue fabric in half lengthwise.

  1. Starting at 5½ inches from the center fold on the top edge, cut diagonally down to the bottom corner of the non-folded side.

  1. Place a plate upside down over the top of the folded edge, with the plate coming about 5½ inches down from the top and with about 1½ inches from the cut edge. Use this as a guide to cut a rounded section out of the fabric to create the cape’s collar.

  1. Unfold the cape and use a hot glue gun to attach pieces of Velcro to the collar straps (one piece on top of one strap, and the corresponding piece on the bottom of the other strap so that they would connect and attach to each other when the straps are wrapped around your neck).

  1. Using the yellow, red, and light blue felt, cut out the layers of the Thundermans T logo, and attach the layers on top of each other using hot glue.

  1. Hot glue the T logo to the center of the back of the cape.
