Wilton is coming out with some special Texas-themed products this fall, and commissioned me to make a Texas-themed recipe using them as a way to celebrate the launch. The first thing that came to mind was a Texas sheet cake recipe. A traditional Texas sheet cake recipe with buttermilk is made as a large, thin chocolate cake with a rich, glaze-like chocolate frosting. It’s great for serving a crowd. This version is also a Texas sheet cake recipe with cinnamon (another classic flavor for it depending on your family’s recipe), and it goes extra on the “Texas” decorated in a grid pattern using Assorted Wild West Sprinkles and Shapes in addition to the traditional pecans to separate out the slices! Get the Texas Sheet Cake recipe on the Wilton website, and keep scrolling for some more photos of this delicious Texas sheetcake recipe.

About Wilton’s new Wild West Sprinkles

These special Assorted Wild West Sprinkles and Assorted Wild West Shapes packs will be available at H-E-B stores in Texas later this month. The Texas Sheet Cake recipe comes out SO moist in the cake layer, then has a rich and fudgy frosting that gets poured over the top of the cake while it’s still warm.

The Wild West Sprinkles and Shapes make for a really fun grid pattern on the slices! You can also top the cake with chopped pecans (very common for a traditional Texas Sheet Cake recipe), or just leave it plain with only the chocolate frosting.

Look how delightfully moist the Texas sheet cake recipe with buttermilk turns out!
