Look out for the little guy! Have you seen the new Ant-Man movie yet? Whether you haven’t, or have been waiting for your chance to watch it again, I have great news: Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is available on Digital now AND on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD TODAY (May 16, 2023)! In the new film, Ant-Man is back with the whole family, in their biggest adventure yet! Join Scott, Hope, Hank, Janet, and Cassie as they take audiences deeper than ever before into the Quantum Realm – and face-off against the all-powerful Kang the Conqueror. With the new 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™ and DVD versions (or variants, if you will), fans can access exclusive bonus content including deleted scenes, a gag reel and audio commentary by director Peyton Reed and writer Jeff Loveness. Because you know I love a good party, and because we’re massive Marvel Studios fans (remember our Loki variant Halloween costumes from a few years ago?), I had to put together a fun at-home watch party to celebrate today’s release. If you’d like to plan your own Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania At-Home Watch Party, or even just add a few fun themed details to your family’s viewing of the film, I’m sharing everything you need, including Ant Man party decorations and supplies, Ant Man party food ideas, activities, and free printables!
About Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
Super Heroes Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), and Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures, and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought possible. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania also stars Jonathan Majors as Kang, David Dastmalchian as Veb, Katy O’Brian as Jentorra, William Jackson Harper as Quaz and Bill Murray as Lord Krylar. Ant Man Party Decorations:
The color scheme for our Ant Man party evokes the Quantum Realm, with dark colors in the background and LED/glowing blue and purple lights. I also included red and yellow details to represent Ant-Man and The Wasp’s suit colors.
Our Ant Man party decorations included a food table with a backdrop. I used a black backdrop with a layer of purple to blue ombre string lights (in the perfect colors for the party theme) in front, then black sheer curtains layered in front of the lights layer. I used a purple tablecloth over the table with the extra sheer black curtain from the curtain pack layered on top.
Since the Ant-Man movies always have elements of things that are either shrunken or oversized, I decided to make an oversized ant as a decoration for the food table.
I created what my kids are lovingly referring to as “trash ant” with crumbled newspaper wrapped with black duct tape, then assembled together with more duct tape.
Other Ant Man party supplies included red, yellow, and purple glow sticks, which not only go with the Quantum Realm’s neon lights vibes, but also act as fun Ant Man party favors.
For the food, I used these black food trays and more Ant Man party decorations with the food sign printables (see the links to all the printables at the end of this post).
Ant Man Party Ideas – Food and Drink (aka “Mouth-watering Organisms Designed Only for Consumption”):
I had so many food-related Ant Man party ideas that I had to narrow it down for our watch party! In the theme of the movie, much of our party food has a theme of shrunken, large, or multiplied. Here’s what we made (don’t worry; there’s no $12 coffee on the menu).
Pym Particles Popcorn. This sweet and salty popcorn is perfect to snack on while watching the movie. To make it, home-popped popcorn is tossed with red candy melts, then spread out onto a large piece of parchment paper.
While the candy melts are still wet, add red sprinkles and salt, then let sit to dry.
Serve in tall clear plastic cups with the PYM Technologies logo on a clear sticker (get the link to the free printable at the end of this post, and print them on these clear labels).
Mini Pizzas. You can make tiny, bite-sized pizzas using refrigerated pizza dough, prepared pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and mini pepperoni, then cutting into small circles with a cookie cutter.
Bang Bang (the Conqueror) Chicken Bites. This tasty treat is made using prepared frozen popcorn chicken tossed in a simple bang bang sauce (I used this recipe).
Ants on a Log. This one is a no-brainer for an Ant Man party! Spread peanut butter (or your favorite peanut-free butter) on celery sticks and add a line of raisins or chocolate chips on top.
Giant Cupcake. Using a giant cupcake cake mold, I used two boxes of red velvet cake mix and one can of prepared cream cheese frosting to create an oversized cupcake.
Multiverse Mini Donuts. Serve an assortment of a few different flavors of mini donut “variants.” I used chocolate, zebra striped, and powdered donuts, but you can also use crumb donuts, glazed donuts, strawberry donuts… whatever you can find!
Key Lime Pie Bites. An interesting character craving in the Ant-Man universe is for limes and other citrus fruits after changing in size. As a reference to this, I made these mini key lime pie bites (they look like baby pies and they’re oh-so-delicious) for our party. Here’s the recipe!
Key Lime Pie Bites
This key lime pie bites recipe plays on an interesting character craving in the Ant-Man universe for limes and other citrus fruits after changing in size. As a reference to this, I made these mini key lime pie bites (they look like baby pies and they’re oh-so-delicious) for our Ant-Man party.
Ingredients
- 9 full sheet graham crackers, ground into crumbs
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Pinch salt
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup key lime juice
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
- Whipped cream
- Lime slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350°F. Place a silicone muffin liner in each cup of a 12-cup muffin pan (or use a silicone muffin pan placed on top of a baking sheet). Spray the inside of the liners with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, butter, brown sugar, and salt together until all the crumbs are moistened. Divide the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of each of the prepared muffin cups and press to pack down into the bottom of the cups. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until firm. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
- Meanwhile, in large bowl, beat the condensed milk and egg yolks together with a whisk. Stir in the lime juice and lime zest. Divide the mixture evenly into the cups on top of the graham cracker crust.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the filling is set. Cool the key lime pie bites in the muffin pan on a wire rack on the counter until completely cooled before covering and transferring to the fridge to cool for at least 2 hours.
- When ready to serve, top the pies with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a slice of lime.
Ooze Drink. This will make more sense once you see Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but a red drink is a must for this watch party. You can use fruit punch, red Kool-Aid, or try this specialty recipe from Whisky + Sunshine. Either way, you’ve gotta “drink the ooze.”
Kang the Conqueror Punch. As a balance to the red Ooze Drink, why not have a blue drink as a nod to Kang? You can use blue raspberry lemonade flavored Kool-Aid or a blue sports drink.
Activities for an Ant Man Party:
Watch the movie! The best and most important activity for an Ant Man party is to watch Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. It’s fun for the whole family, and will have kids and adults of all ages laughing and on the edge of their seats.
M.O.D.O.K. Name Generator Game. Playing on the MODOK character’s acronym name (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing), this game a worksheet with some fun (and funny) random word choices to replace the M and K so party guests can make their own MODOK name. Get the free printable worksheet at the end of this post, and use these mini pencils to play.
MCU Easter Egg Counter. This is an MCU movie after all, so you can bet the film and post credit scene(s) are full of Easter eggs from the comics and the future of the MCU. This free printable allows watch party attendees to jot down Easter eggs found while watching the film (using these mini pencils). Compare with each other at the end of the movie, and whoever comes up with the most can receive a special prize! Get the free Ant Man party printables in the section below.
