How to Organize a Small Pantry

An organized pantry feels good. I mean, really good. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction knowing that I will easily be able to find what I need, and see what kind of stock I have at any given time. I know, this doesn’t sound very exciting, but it really does feel satisfying. Learning how to organize a small pantry with things like pantry organization containers and a pantry door organizer can help get the most use out of the small space.

My pantry organization project was completely inspired by this post over at House of Smiths. I wonder how many pantries across the US are now organized and cute thanks to this blog post!

What You Need for a Small Pantry Makeover

  • Paint
  • Pantry organization containers
  • Vinyl labels
  • Pantry door organizer

Paint for Small Pantry Makeover

First things first, I painted the walls gray with some leftover gray paint from our bedroom. Then I painted the shelves white with some extra white cabinet paint from the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations kit we used for our laundry room makeover.

Pantry Organization Containers

I purchased many of the canisters, jars and containers from Ikea, which made this project really reasonable. Unfortunately, not all of them are available anymore, but for those ones I found the closest matches I could find on Amazon.

Ikea 365+ Series Jar with Lid

Jar labels I purchased from Shelley at House of Smiths, but unfortunately the website is no longer available. You can make your own with a Cricut or search for something similar on Etsy.

To organize smaller baking supplies, I used a wooden crate (you can use them as they are, or stain the wood your preferred color) with a vinyl decal. I also used the bigger crates at the base of the pantry to organize large items (large bottles of oil, restock items, etc.). I also added a vinyl label to this IKEA glass bottle for syrup.

Pantry Door Organizer

A great way to utilize all of your space is by using a pantry door organizer. It essentially adds extra shelving without the need for any kind of renovation to the pantry! Again, I don’t have the link for the one I originally used, but I found a similar one on Amazon.

I hope this post is able to inspire you and give you ideas on how to organize a small pantry!

I will be taking a few weeks off from posting on the blog, as we are headed on a road trip to California, with a week in Ireland in between. Will share my travel reviews and photos when I return!
