- Cooking spray
- 1 (16 ounce) package frozen blackberries (you can make this with fresh blackberries as well with the same instructions. The fruit layer will be a little less juicy with the fresh berries.)
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 5 tablespoons butter, melted
- Frozen whipped topping, thawed
How to make blackberry cobbler with frozen blackberries
To make this recipe for blackberry cobbler with frozen berries, start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees F (or 190 degrees C). Spray an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, gently stir the frozen blackberries together with 2 tablespoons of the sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Spread the berry mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Combine the flour, the remaining 1 cup sugar, and the egg together in a bowl until the mixture resembles a coarse meal (see the photo above as a reference).
Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the blackberries in the baking dish.
Finally, drizzle melted butter evenly on top of the crumb mixture.
Bake the blackberry cobbler with frozen blackberries in the preheated oven until lightly browned and bubbly (35 to 40 minutes). Remove the cobbler from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
