SpongeBob Theme Party Supplies and Decorations

Our SpongeBob themed party decorations included blue, yellow, “under the sea” elements, and an homage to the 25th anniversary.

For the food table, I used a Caribbean blue tablecloth with a decorative net laid across. On the backdrop I hung wavy tinsel that looks like water.

I twisted dark green and kiwi green streamers to look like seaweed coming up from the ocean floor on the sides of the backdrop. You can also do a taller version of this setup for a fun photo background.

To celebrate SpongeBob’s 25th anniversary, I printed a “25” sign and surrounded it with some of the SpongeBob flower motif cut with my Cricut.

For plates, napkins, and utensils, I used a set of sunshine yellow tableware, with the utensils displayed in small galvanized metal pails.
SpongeBob Party Food Ideas

There are so many fun food ideas for a SpongeBob party that I had to narrow it down or we would have been snacking for days! Here is what we served at our SpongeBob watch party (though these would also be great ideas for a SpongeBob birthday party, too).

Krabby Patty Slider Tower

I made a bunch of frozen cheeseburger sliders and served them displayed on a cupcake holder. You can also make your own homemade sliders and serve them this way, too.

Pineapple Cupcakes

You can also decorate cupcakes like little pineapples! This is a very easy cupcake decoration. Here’s what you need:
- Cupcakes (homemade or store bought) frosted yellow
- Yellow sugar sprinkles
- Orange cake decorating sparkle gel
- Pineapple leaf cupcake toppers
To make them:
- Place the sugar sprinkles in a shallow bowl. Press the tops of the cupcakes into the sugar until the frosting is coated entirely and the tops are smooth.
- Pipe diagonal lines across the top of the cupcakes with sparkle gel. Repeat on the other side to create a criss-cross pattern.
- Insert a cupcake topper diagonally from one of the top edges of each cupcake.

SpongeBob Mini Pound Cakes and Patrick Star Rice Krispie Treats

Entenmann’s mini pound cake slices make simple SpongeBob dessert treats when you add some brown and white frosting for his clothes and big candy eyeballs for his eyes (optional: add a red frosting necktie). For Patrick, add pink food coloring to a homemade Rice Krispies treats recipe, then cut into star-shapes with a cookie cutter. Frost on some green shorts with small purple flowers and add small candy eyeballs.

I added some green apple sour belts twisted to look like seaweed to add some more color to the serving tray.

Pop Kelp Popcorn

Home-popped popcorn is flavored and colored green using candy melts to look like Pop Kelp – just like what you’d get at Reef Cinema! Festive silver sprinkles add a little nod to the show’s 25th anniversary!
Ingredients:
- Freshly popped popcorn (unseasoned)
- Green candy melts
- Metallic silver decorating sugar sprinkles
- Metallic silver pearls sprinkles

Instructions:
- Place popcorn in a large mixing bowl.
- Melt candy melts in the microwave according to package directions, then toss with the popcorn, coating evenly.
- Spread the popcorn out onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- While the candy is still wet, add the sprinkles. Let sit until the candy coating has dried completely.
- Transfer the popcorn to a serving bowl, breaking up bigger chunks as needed.

Instead of a bowl, you can also serve them in these printable popcorn boxes by Cutefetti! Get the link to download the printable in my Party Printables section below.

Kelp Strips

I saw this idea from Spaceships and Laser Beams on Pinterest and had to recreate it as one of the ideas for a SpongeBob party. Just add green apple sour belts to small kebab skewers. I had them displayed in a mini pail with a small piece of Styrofoam in the bottom to insert the skewers.

Pineapple Punch

To make this easy, non-alcoholic punch, just mix equal parts of pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda together in a pitcher. Serve over ice in plain 16-ounce mason jars. To make them even more festive, I removed the toothpicks from some of the extra pineapple leaf cupcake toppers and hot glued them to yellow striped straws that I added to the glasses.

SpongeBob Party Favors

One of the SpongeBob party favors I used for our SpongeBob theme party were these goodie buckets using small galvanized metal pails. I used my Cricut to cut vinyl words that said “Chum Bucket” in Krabby Patty font.

I filled the pails with goldfish crackers, a SpongeBob toy and temporary tattoos from this SpongeBob party favors set, Krabby Patties Gummy Candy, and sea animal bubble wands.

Another SpongeBob party favor idea we used is mini candy bars wrapped with free printable candy wrappers. Get the link to the free SpongeBob party printables below.
