decoration ideas for baseball party

For the baseball party color scheme, I went with red, white, and blue, but if you’re planning a baseball Opening Day party, you can use your favorite team’s colors as well. Like all my parties, all of the ideas I’m sharing are easy, including some simple DIY baseball theme party ideas that even beginning DIYers can handle.

For the food table, I made a banner that says “CONCESSIONS” on my Cricut. Here is the project on Cricut Design Space so you can recreate it!

Another high-impact decor idea for a baseball party is to add red baseball stiches to the wall. You can purchase a pre-made sticker like this one that I used, you can make one out of vinyl with a Cricut, or you can DIY them with red tape like @the_avantgarde_ did in this Reel.

You can use baseballs in a vase to make a simple centerpiece. Either use old baseballs that you have, or get a cheap pack of craft-quality baseballs (since game balls are not cheap – IYKYK).

I made a “There’s No Place Like Home” chalkboard sign to add a celebratory touch for the start of the season to the food table. I cut the art from vinyl with my Cricut (here’s the project on the Cricut Design Space) and attached it to a chalkboard sign (like this one). I displayed red and blue utensils and baseball napkins in mini galvanized steel pails. I used a lot of galvanized metal details throughout my baseball party ideas, as you’ll see.

Another DIY baseball theme party idea I got from @the_avantgarde_ in this Reel was to make a pedestal tray using baseballs as the feet. Using balls from a cheap pack of craft-quality baseballs, I hot glued them to the bottom of a white plastic serving platter. I added the red baseball stitches using vinyl cut with my Cricut (get the project in Cricut Design Space here).

Baseball themed party food

There are a lot of fun baseball themed party food ideas you can use for a baseball Opening Day party or baseball themed birthday party. You can do a mix of traditional ballpark food (like hot dogs, nachos, and ice cream) as well as treats decorated like baseballs. Here are the food and beverage ideas for baseball party that I used.

I displayed classic baseball treats Cracker Jacks, Big League Chew, Baby Ruth, and sunflowers seeds in a galvanized steel tiered stand.

Peanuts served in a mini steel pail.

It’s just not a proper baseball themed party food spread without hot dogs! I served them on a tray in these paper liners.

Nachos are also a quintessential food for baseball themed party. I served them in these baseball-themed nacho boxes on a metal tray.

Taking an idea from my Blue’s Clues Big City Adventure party, I displayed soft pretzels on a mug holder. I also had corn dog bites in tiny metal pails.

One of my favorite new ideas for baseball party this time was this baseball charcuterie! I used cubes of three different white cheeses (ideas include white cheddar, mozzarella, Monterey jack, parmesan, Swiss, Gruyere, and gouda) along with folded pieces of pepperoni and chorizo to form the ball. I surrounded the meat and cheese with shredded lettuce to hold it all in shape.

I had to make my family-favorite Baseball Brownie Bites recipe, which I displayed on a galvanized steel cake stand.

I ordered baseball-themed gluten-free sugar cookies from Lizzie the Baker. Her cookies are all gluten-free, free of most allergens, and the sprinkles in the version I got use all natural dyes. She carries a few other flavors and you get to choose the baseball shapes that you want, along with team logo options!

Since I can’t do a party without using Candy Melts in some way, I made these dipped OREO baseballs using Wilton Bright White and Red Candy Melts.

I made baseball cupcakes frosted with white buttercream, then pressed into a bowl of white sugar sprinkles before piping red buttercream stitches on top (similar to the cupcakes I made for my basketball party).

I also used Wilton Light Cocoa Candy Melts to make dipped pretzel rod bats, which I served in tiny metal pails along with foil-wrapped chocolate baseballs.

Since ice cream just tastes better when eaten out of a mini helmet, I served soft serve ice cream in mini helmets so we could feel like we are at the ballpark when we eat them.

One of our party beverages were glass bottles of Coke served in a galvanized bucket with ice.

Finally, an easy way to make water more festive for a DIY baseball theme party is to remove labels from water bottles and wrap them in white duct tape, then drawing on red stitches with a Sharpie marker.
Baseball birthday party favors

While most of this article was for a baseball Opening Day party, I have some baseball birthday party favor ideas too from Sawyer’s birthday a few years ago. We did drawstring bags filled with baseball stress balls, keychains with mini bat and ball, and baseball-themed treats like Cracker Jacks, Big League Chew, Baby Ruth, and sunflowers seeds. You can also find a set like this that already includes a bag, bracelet, keychain, and stress ball.

Koozies are a fun baseball party favor for adults. You can get baseball koozies for regular cans and slim cans.

I hope you found these baseball party ideas inspiring! Now play ball!
