Isn’t it crazy to think that the holiday season is already upon us? In one of the most different years of our lives, the tradition, comfort, and familiarity of the holidays will be more important this year than ever. We might be celebrating a little differently, but the meaning behind the festivities and our connections with friends and family will still hold true. I’m happy to be partnering with Kraft Heinz to bring a holiday recipe that uses some of our favorite, familiar holiday products to bring that comfort, nostalgia, and tradition to the holidays this year. I’ve developed an absolutely delicious stuffing recipe that I’m sharing today that’s surprisingly easy to make. This one has already become a favorite in our home. I call it Jalapeño Popper Stuffing, as it incorporates some of the key ingredients from bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers (diced jalapeños, Philadelphia® Cream Cheese, and Oscar Mayer® Bacon) with Stove Top® Stuffing. It might be a side dish, but this stuffing won’t be having a seat on the sidelines of your holiday meal… it will be one of the stars! The best part? It is quick and easy to make thanks to the shortcut of using boxed Stove Top® Turkey Stuffing mix. You know how I love a good cooking shortcut the make dinners easier, and you can’t go wrong with Stove Top®!
In addition to this recipe, I’m also excited to share details with you on the #ShareTheHolidaySweepstakes! I’ve got the full recipe at the end of this post, but first, here are some pictures with step-by-step instructions and tips to help you make this super easy Jalapeño Popper Stuffing to perfection.
What you need:
- 6 slices of Oscar Mayer® Naturally Hardwood Smoked Bacon, chopped. The flavor and quality are top-notch; if you’ve tried it yourself you know why Oscar Mayer® Bacon is America’s Favorite Bacon.
- 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups reduced sodium chicken broth
- 4 ounces (half an 8 ounce package) Philadelphia® Cream Cheese, softened. Philadelphia® Cream Cheese is made with no artificial preservatives, dyes, or flavors; it truly sets the standard for quality. The result is a fresh tasting, creamy texture worth savoring. There is just no substitute for it if you want your holiday meals to turn out perfectly.
- 1 box (6 ounce) of Stove Top® Turkey Stuffing Mix
Start by adding the chopped bacon to a skillet and cook over medium heat. You don’t need to add any oil to the skillet, as the bacon will release its own natural oils as it cooks. Cook the bacon for 4 minutes before adding the next ingredients.
Add the diced jalapeños and minced garlic to the skillet with the bacon to cook in the bacon’s natural oils for about 6 more minutes, until the edges of the bacon begin to crisp. Stir frequently while it cooks and watch closely to make sure the garlic does not overcook.
Transfer the bacon and jalapeño mixture to a plate lined with paper towels and set aside.
In a medium saucepan, add the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Add the cream cheese to the boiling chicken broth and stir until the cream cheese is melted.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the stuffing to the chicken broth and cream cheese mixture.
Stir gently to coat the stuffing with the liquid, then cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, remove the lid and stir the bacon and jalapeño mixture into the stuffing.
Fluff everything with a fork.
Transfer the stuffing to a serving dish and serve warm.
SO yummy! It has just the right amount of kick.
