It’s officially Spooky Month! I’ve been waiting until October 1st to put out my Halloween decorations, so I thought it would also be the perfect day to share a bunch of pretty pumpkins for your Spooky Month craft and decorating inspiration. The theme for today’s post is decoupage pumpkins. I’m sharing 10 different beautiful (and easy!) Mod Podge pumpkin foam craft pumpkin ideas. You might be surprised how many ways you can use Mod Podge to decorate pumpkins! I’m sharing ideas for decoupage pumpkins with napkins (including pretty damask pumpkins), DIY pumpkins with fabric (lace covered pumpkins and DIY burlap pumpkins), Mod Podge tissue paper pumpkins (including buffalo plaid pumpkins and floral black pumpkins), a Día de los Muertos pumpkin, and more. Each craft project is quick and easy (my favorite kind of crafts!), yet so pretty! You’ll want to pin all these Mod Podge pumpkins!

DIY pumpkins with fabric
Lace covered pumpkins
These pretty lace covered pumpkins were inspired by Vintage Pretty. I personally started with a craft pumpkin that I spray painted with metallic gold spray paint, and added some pipe cleaner vines for an added detail.
What you need to make these lace covered pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Metallic gold spray paint
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- White lace ribbon
- Pipe cleaners
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Alternative black pumpkins option: Black lace fabric and black acrylic paint for the stem
Get the instructions on Vintage Pretty here.
DIY burlap pumpkins
Inspired by this project by Simply2Moms on HomeTalk, I love the farmhouse aesthetic of DIY burlap pumpkins. I painted the pumpkin stem gold then added a bow on top (this helped cover the edges of burlap that were visible on top of my decoupage pumpkins).
What you need to make DIY burlap pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Burlap
- Metallic gold paint
- Ribbon and/or twine
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks

Decoupage pumpkins with napkins
Damask pumpkins
One of my favorite décor trends this year is the blue and white heritage trend. Because of this, these pretty pumpkins are some of my favorites that I’m sharing today. I was inspired by the look of these fabric-covered pumpkins on unOriginal Mom, but decided to make decoupage pumpkins with napkins instead. I had some blue and white damask napkins leftover from the Chinoiserie Easter eggs I made in the spring, so I added some gold napkins to the mix to make a set of pretty damask pumpkins.
What you need to make damask pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Gold damask paper napkins
- Blue and white damask paper napkins
- Metallic gold paint
After stripping the paper damask napkins down to a single ply, I covered one of the decoupage pumpkins in blue damask, another in gold damask, and on a third pumpkin I added a few cut-outs from the blue damask napkin. I painted each of the stems gold then displayed them with some other small gold pumpkins.
Floral decoupage pumpkins
Inspired by this project from Better Homes & Gardens, I made super easy decoupage pumpkins with napkins instead of wrapping paper. After spray painting a small foam craft pumpkin gold, I cut out the flower motif from a paper napkin (after stripping it down to a single ply). Using Mod Podge, I added the flower to the bottom half of the pumpkin. The results are simple yet stunning.
What you need to make these decoupage pumpkins with napkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Metallic gold spray paint
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Floral paper napkins
Día de los Muertos pumpkin (easy sugar skull decoupage pumpkins)
Another idea for decoupage pumpkins with napkins is to make a Día de los Muertos pumpkin. Using a paper napkin makes this a super easy sugar skull pumpkin – no artistic skills required! I started with black pumpkins (I spray painted them), then decoupaged a sugar skull that I cutout from a paper napkin onto the front. I got some fake roses from the craft store and added them to the top. I inserted mine into the foam pumpkins with their wire, but you can hot glue them to the pumpkin alternatively. This ended up being one of my favorite foam pumpkin craft ideas this year!
What you need to make this Día de los Muertos skull pumpkin:
- Craft pumpkins
- Black spray paint
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Day of the Dead Sugar Skull paper napkins
- Fake red roses
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks

Mod Podge tissue paper pumpkins
Black roses Mod Podge pumpkin
This Mod Podge tissue paper pumpkin was inspired by Semigloss Design. To make this Mod Podge pumpkin, I started by spray painting a craft pumpkin completely black so the color wouldn’t show through the tissue paper. I also added some detail to the flowers with red acrylic paint after the Mod Podge dried. The little bit of hand painting gave this super simple pumpkin craft an even more artistic look.
What you need to make this Mod Podge tissue paper pumpkin:
- Craft pumpkins
- Black spray paint
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Black rose tissue paper
- Red acrylic paint

Buffalo Plaid Pumpkins
I couldn’t make Mod Podge tissue paper pumpkins without including the seasonal pattern-of-the-moment. These buffalo plaid pumpkins were one of the easiest to make, yet came out so cool! The key was cutting individual strips out of the plaid pattern tissue paper and lining them up as closely as I could as I went around the pumpkin. I finished by painting the stem black and adding “Happy Fall” in vinyl on one side.
What you need to make buffalo plaid pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Red buffalo plaid tissue paper
- Black acrylic paint
- Optional: Fall-themed saying printed on vinyl (I made mine with my Cricut Joy)
Other decoupaged pretty pumpkins
Book print or sheet music decoupage pumpkins
These pretty pumpkins were inspired by Kippi at Home. I love that you can make these decoupage pumpkins out of book pages or even sheet music. I finished mine by painting the stem black and hot gluing a black and white bow on the top.
What you need to make book print decoupage pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Book pages or sheet music
- Black acrylic paint
- Black and white ribbon
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks
Get the decoupage pumpkins instructions on Kippi at Home here. I think this Mod Podge pumpkin looks especially chic displayed on a book shelf with small black pumpkins.
Glitter drip pumpkins
A simple but surprising way to use Mod Podge is to make glitter drip pumpkins. After spray painting a small pumpkin with a metallic spray paint, I looked for a coordinating color of glitter. I poured some Mod Podge over the top of the pumpkin, then waited about 5 minutes for the drips to stop running (while still being tacky). I then dumped glitter over the drips. I love the cool effect of these pretty pumpkins!
What you need to make glitter drip pumpkins:
- Craft pumpkins
- Metallic spray paint
- Matte Mod Podge
- Foam brushes
- Coordinating color of glitter
I hope these foam pumpkin craft ideas inspire your own Spooky Month and fall crafting! If you try any of the projects, I’d love to see them. Tag @fabeveryday on social media when you share them!
