I am SO excited to share this new recipe for Korean-Style Ground Beef Ramen today. The ground beef and ramen noodles dish was adapted from one of our family-favorite recipes, Easy Korean Ground Beef Bowl from Allrecipes. It was actually my oldest kiddo’s idea one night when I had it on the menu to see if I could kind of combine it with my Instant Pot Pork Ramen Stir Fry recipe method using instant ramen noodles cooked into the sauce instead of serving it over rice. The Korean ramen noodles recipe ended up being a big success, and we’ve made it several times since. This easy beef ramen recipe is an instant ramen upgrade. Already a family favorite on regular rotation, this ground beef ramen recipe incorporates Korean-inspired flavors and is done in under 30 minutes, including prep! If you’re looking for a Korean beef ramen recipe, or beef ramen noodle recipes in general, this one is a winner!

What you need to make this recipe for Korean-style ramen noodles with ground beef

We call this a Korean ramen noodles recipe due to the combination of ingredients used. It’s not a soup, but instead closer to a beef ramen stir fry, or a stir fry noodles dish, using soy sauce, red pepper, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and sesame seeds (which are commonly used in Korean-style recipes). Here’s what you’ll need to make this ground beef and ramen noodles recipe (most of these are pantry ingredients too, which also makes this ground beef ramen a budget-friendly recipe):
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 ½ cups water
- ½ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
- ⅓ cup packed light brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 4 (3-ounce) packages beef flavored ramen noodles, with seasoning packets divided
- 6 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

How to make this easy ground beef ramen recipe

To make this easy beef ramen recipe, start by heating a large wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring and crumbling into small pieces until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain the excess grease from the skillet.

Add the garlic, ginger, and sesame oil to the skillet. Cook, stirring until fragrant (about 2 minutes).

Next, add water, soy sauce, brown sugar, crushed red pepper, and 3 of the beef ramen seasoning packets to the skillet and stir until well mixed (discard or save the remaining ramen seasoning packet). Heat to boiling, then reduce the heat to medium.

Add the noodles from the 4 ramen packets into the ground beef mixture.

Cook the beef and ramen noodles, stirring occasionally, until the noodles are soft and have absorbed most of the sauce (about 5-6 minutes).

The ramen noodles absorb all that delicious flavor from the water and seasonings! Serve the Korean ramen noodles in bowls and top generously with the chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

This ground beef ramen noodles dish is so savory and full of flavor!

I have a bunch of chicken ramen packets. So I can use the noodles if any idea what seasoning I can use to replace the beef seasoning packets? Also is the sesame oil for taste or can I use EVOO? Thank you! I can’t wait to try this budget friendly recipe!
Ramona Cruz-Peters says
Hi Liz! This recipe is very good for experimenting, so yes, feel free to use chicken seasoning packets or other flavors (soy sauce or pork would also be good). I recommend beef to go with the ground beef flavor, but any of those seasoning packets will still be great. Regarding the sesame oil, I always recommend it for infusing more flavor, but any cooking oil will work in a pinch. I do recommend keeping sesame oil in your pantry though, because it’s so good in dishes like this.
Liz says
All if they makes sense! I will def get myself some sesame oil 🙂 I’m winging it for now and hoping for the best! Thank you !

I made it and found it to be too salty. I’ll adjust accordingly. Otherwise it was an easy comfort food supper.
Ramona Cruz-Peters says
Yes, the ramen seasoning packets and soy sauce definitely make this a salty recipe. Those who don’t like a saltier taste can either reduce the soy sauce or ramen packets and replace some of the water with unsalted beef broth to accommodate the changes.
Debbie Whitman says
I just made this and my family LOVED it. I did use low sodium soy sauce but only 1/4 c. Thank you for sharing this recipe! I will make it again!
Ramona Cruz-Peters says
I’m so glad to hear that! We love it too and make it every few weeks. The sodium content can be a lot for some people, so good call on adjusting the quantity to your tastes.
