While I loved my minimalist white, silver, and gold Christmas mantel last year, I was inspired to do something different for my holiday mantel décor this year. I wanted to go with a contemporary look for a modern Christmas mantel with a color scheme to match my white and black living room.
I ended up with this simple, but chic look that can be recreated easily with some online purchases and some DIY. Here are the details!

How to make a contemporary Christmas mantel
Why hang your wreath on a nail when you can hang it on a black stag? I got this Wall Hanging Black Stag from cb2. It’s no longer available, but here is a similar modern hanging black stag head from Amazon.
The wreath, which was inspired by more expensive versions, was DIY. Click here for the instructions for this DIY Paper Flower Wreath.
I hung a few miscellaneous ornaments from the stag’s antlers for a little added accessorizing.
I laid some faux pine foliage with snow detail from At Home on the mantel. On either side of the stag, I placed three modern pillar Christmas trees in different sizes. Some were white pillars and some were silver Disco Trees from cb2. They are both no longer available from cb2.
I was able to reuse my silver simple stocking holders from Pottery Barn and plush white stockings from Macy’s to complete the look. Unfortunately these exact stockings are no longer available. You can find a similar white stocking on Amazon here.
I hope this inspires your mantel décor this year! Don’t forget to pin and share with others!
