What you need to make cinnamon pie crust twists

To make this recipe for cinnamon twists with pie crust, you’ll need to gather the following:
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Flour (for dusting)
- Prepared pie dough
- Rolling pin
- Melted butter
- Basting brush
- Coarse sugar (like sugar crystals or turbinado sugar – but if you’re in a pinch, regular granulated sugar would also work)
- Ground cinnamon
- Pizza slicer (a knife would also work if you don’t have a pizza cutter available)
How to make these cinnamon sugar pie crust strips

Start by pre-heating the oven to 350 degrees F to make these cinnamon pie crust twists, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. Dust your work surface with flour. Roll out prepared pie dough (either leftover pie dough from a recipe, or a pack of pre-made dough) with a rolling pin onto the floured surface.

Brush the top of the dough generously with melted butter, followed by a generous layer of sugar, and a generous layer of cinnamon (to taste). Think of how you like your cinnamon toast, as we’re using pretty much the same toppings for this Pie Crust Cinnamon Twists recipe.

Slice the topped dough into thin (approximately 1/2-inch wide) strips with a pizza cutter (or knife).

Twist the cinnamon sugar pie crust strips one at a time, then lay onto the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake the cinnamon pie crust twists for 20-25 minutes, or until crisp and light golden brown.

Allow the pie dough cinnamon twists to cool on the baking sheet on a wire rack before serving.

Pie crust twists are great as a quick dessert or to keep around as a snack! You can even use them on dessert boards or charcuterie boards.

Duh why not mix the sugar and cinnamon together????
Ramona Cruz-Peters says
You can definitely try that! Because I use coarse sugar for this one, I feel it goes on more evenly this way, as it doesn’t blend as well with the cinnamon in a bowl.
Gabrielle says
Made these with leftover pie scraps, delicious!

Elysa says
Substituted everything bagel seasoning for the sugar and cinnamon and they turned out beautifully. I don’t think these are going to make it to the charcuterie board tomorrow – my family is devouring them as I type this! Thanks for the great recipe and Happy Holidays!
Ramona Cruz-Peters says
I love that you tried a savory version! I’ll have to try that!
