How to Make baked mozzarella sticks with string cheese
Since these are baked mozzarella sticks, you’ll start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Gather each sheet of prepared dough into a ball and roll each out separately into a 12″x9″ rectangle on a lightly floured cutting board.
Using a pizza cutter, cut each large rectangle into 6 smaller rectangles (3 rows of 2 rectangles each), 6″x3″ in size. You will have 6 rectangles from each sheet (12 total rectangles). This will be the breading for your pie crust cheese sticks!
These are baked mozzarella sticks with string cheese, so the filling is easy… just use a snack cheese stick! Place a stick of string cheese onto each dough rectangle. Roll the dough around the cheese. Pinch the seams to seal, then tuck the side seams under the rolls towards the long seam, pressing onto the rest of the dough. Place the pie crust cheese sticks rolls seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet. Note: You’ll want to make sure the seams are tightly sealed and that there are no holes in the dough, or the cheese will melt out of the openings while the baked mozzarella sticks are in the oven.
Next, you’ll add some seasoning to the outsides for this easy mozzarella sticks recipe. In a small dish, whisk the egg and water together. In a separate small dish, mix the Parmesan, parsley, and garlic salt together.
Brush the tops of the pie crust cheese sticks with the egg mixture, then sprinkle with the Parmesan mixture.
Bake the easy baked mozzarella sticks in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden.
After baking, allow the pie crust cheese sticks to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve the pie crust baked mozzarella sticks with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.
