How to Throw a Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers-Themed Birthday Party

It’s crazy to think that Power Rangers are still as popular today as when I was a kid.  Some things are just made to last, I guess!  My littlest (though not so little anymore) wanted a Power Rangers theme for his 6th birthday party.  I found that a Power Rangers birthday party was actually a pretty easy theme to work with, including some simple DIY projects (you know I love to try to keep party planning easy!).  Read on for all the details, including party décor, party food, activities and game ideas, party favors, and free printables for a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers birthday party.  You can also follow my Power Ranger Birthday Party planning board on Pinterest to see more inspiration on how to plan the perfect Power Rangers kid’s party.

Power Rangers Birthday Party Décor

The central theme to the décor was the colors of the six primary Power Rangers: blue, red, yellow, green, black, and pink.  We emphasized the blue a bit more for our party since the Blue Ranger is S’s favorite.

A “Keep Calm it’s Morphin’ Time” door sign greeted guests as they entered.  See below for the link to the free printable.

The color scheme was incorporated in lots of different ways, including balloons, table covers, and plates.

I made the Happy Birthday banner myself with my Cricut.

Power Rangers Birthday Party Food

Like the décor, the food also followed the green, pink, red, black, blue, and yellow Power Rangers color scheme.

I separated bulk popcorn into colorful popcorn containers from Party City, and incorporated colorful fruit and vegetables.

The color scheme also played into the snack-size bags of chips we had available for the kids.

Marshmallows dipped in candy melts made for a very simple, but sweet and colorful party treat.

Gatorade (with the lightning bolt logo) or PowerAde (for the play in its name) are colorful drinks that work right with the theme.

Food signs (see below for the link to the free Power Rangers party printables) labeled with “Hydration Station.”

My famous Crock Pot Party Meatballs recipe became “Morphin’ Meatballs” for the occasion.

These colorful sword picks were a subtle addition to the appetizer spread that carried the theme.

Colorful fruit and veggies.

Since S loves pizza, I made up some easy frozen pizzas and sliced them into ready-to-grab strips.

Mozzarella sticks are another of S’s favorites.

Snack-size chip bags were separated out by the party colors.

Oreos are one of S’s absolute favorite treats, so I laid out a bowl and called them “Go, Go Oreos!”  I meant to dip them in colored candy melts and decorate them, but I ran out of time, and the kids were not bothered in the least that the Oreos were not in the color scheme.

Another request from the birthday boy were giant donuts instead of cake.  Fortunately we live near Round Rock Donuts and their famous, delicious Texas-sized donuts.

Colorful candles also carried the party theme.

Power Rangers Birthday Party Favors

The party favors were these Power Rangers Ninja Steel cups filled with Power Rangers Pez dispensers, rings, silicon bracelets, temporary tattoos, and a blue swirl lollipop.  I wrapped it with these cello bags, and added a favor tag (see below for a link to the free printable).

Power Rangers Birthday Party Games and Activities

Coloring pages are always a cheap and easy way to keep kids entertained.  I found these ones (and a lot more!) on Mom Junction.

Did I mention my boy had to get staples in the back of his head the day before his party?  Maybe he’ll finally learn why we tell him and his brother not to wrestle on the couch.  Maybe.

This simple craft activity let the kids’ imaginations soar.  I got colored plates from Party City, and placed out pieces of black and white paper, tape runners, scissors, and jumbo popsicle sticks for kids to design their own Power Rangers masks.

See below for the link to the free printable for the Make Your Own Power Rangers Masks sign.

The Make Your Own Power Rangers Masks station was very popular for the kids!

Kids got to pose at this combo décor piece and photo backdrop for photos with their friends and the masks they created.  Oh, and yes, that’s me in a Pink Power Ranger costume that my friends and kids convinced me to wear.  The question is: how hard was it to convince me?  Comment your guess!

The last activity (which I forgot to photograph, doh!) was a simple obstacle course in the backyard using colorful pool noodles from the dollar store.  See my Power Rangers Birthday Party board on Pinterest to see where I got the inspiration.

Power Rangers Birthday Party Printables

All printables for the party are available in this post here. The printables I created are free, but I would appreciate a follow for @fabeveryday on social media (you can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram) in return. If you post pictures of your parties, tag @fabeveryday in them so we can see what you do! Finally, if you blog about your party, please link back to https://fabeveryday.com/ in your blog posts to credit the printables and inspiration.

Thanks for visiting, and don’t forget to pin and share if you are inspired!

I love this! Thank you for sharing. My soon to be 4 year old wants a Power Rangers party and I will use lots of your ideas. As I was reading this I thought ‘we have the same kid!’ Ha ha. He originally wanted a ‘blue power ranger party’..then the pizza…mozza sticks…Oreos. Lol

Love all your details! Looks like such a fun party! By chance do you have a link to the water bottle labels for the power ranger party?

Thank you! It was fun! The water bottle labels were actually parts of the party invitation that I split into sections and printed on 8.5×11″ paper. It was kind of a last minute hack I decided to do to add more of the theme throughout. I got the invitation on Etsy.
