What you need to make cocoa Rice Krispie football treats

To make these football Cocoa Krispie treats, you’ll need the following ingredients, along with a saucepan, spatula, a 9×13-inch pan, parchment paper, and a large mixing bowl:
- Nonstick cooking spray
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 1 (10-ounce) package marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 cups Cocoa Krispies cereal
- White cake decorating icing or bright white candy melts
How to make Cocoa Krispie treats shaped like footballs

To make these Cocoa Krispie football treats, the first step is to line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper and coat the paper with nonstick cooking spray. While parchment paper isn’t totally necessary, I find it helpful when making cut-out Cocoa Krispie treats, as you can just pull the treats out of the pan with the paper and put it straight onto a cutting board.
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted. Remove the pan from the stove and stir in the vanilla extract until well mixed.
Place the Cocoa Krispies cereal in a large bowl. Add the marshmallow mixture and stir until the cereal is well coated. Next, evenly press the cereal mixture into the prepared pan with a greased spatula, and set aside to cool.

Once cooled, remove the Cocoa Krispie treats (with the parchment paper) from the pan and place it on top of a cutting board. Cut the treats into football shapes. To do this, you can either bend a metal circle cookie cutter into an oval, or you can use a circle cookie cutter with overlapping cuts to create little ovals (see the method for how I do this in this Pinterest Idea Pin).

The final step in making these football Rice Krispies treats is to pipe football laces on top with white cake decorating icing or bright white candy melts (melted per package instructions). You can either use an icing bag with an icing tip, add a tip to a tube of prepared cake decorating icing (like Wilton’s icing), or a plastic bag with a corner snipped off.

These football Cocoa Krispie treats are as cute as they are delicious!
