It’s no secret that one of my favorite themes for entertaining is football. I love creating food for tailgates, game watching parties, and of course, the Big Game. I especially love finding ways to make food look or shaped like a football (check out my Football Charcuterie Board, Football Brownie Bites, and Football Sausage Galette for just a few examples). Today I’m sharing an alternative idea to a football themed charcuterie board: a Football Candy Board! This is a perfect dessert for Super Bowl party or whenever you need football themed dessert ideas or easy game day desserts. This Super Bowl dessert board can also be customized with your own favorite candies or sweet treats, like dipped pretzels, mini donuts, etc., so don’t feel like you have to limit your Super Bowl snack board to just candy! Check out the ingredients I used to make my football dessert board below, along with some instructions and tips, but there are no limits to what you can do with this one.

What you need to make this sweet football snack board

As I mentioned, there are a lot of ways to personalize a football dessert charcuterie board like this one. I tried to keep the main candies for the football to milk chocolate so the color blended nicely, but you can use dark chocolate if you prefer. Here are the candies I used, but you’re welcome to do more, less, or switch to your favorite candies not listed here:
- Kit Kat Minis Unwrapped. Mini versions of candies are easier to maneuver into shapes, but you can also use the regular versions. I also found that the unwrapped versions in share bags saved a lot of time on prep.
- Rolo (I used the Unwrapped version for this one too)
- Twix Minis
- Nuggets
- Butterfinger Unwrapped Minis
- Snickers Minis
- Reese’s Miniature Cups
- Kisses
- Whoppers
- Raisinets
- Vanilla Kit Kat (these made the football laces)
How to make a candy football dessert board

For my Super Bowl dessert board, I started by placing the candies that would form the ends of the ball on the board first. I used smaller pieces and pieces with rounded shapes for these sides, as they would have the most defined curves on the overall football shape.

After placing the sides, I worked inward from there, adding candies until I had a vertical empty space down the middle.

I filled the empty space with round candies, like Raisinets and Whoppers. These had to be placed last, as they have a tendency to roll, so I needed to have a bit of a border already established to hold them in place.

The final step for making the candy football snack board was to add the laces. I used Vanilla Kit Kats that I separated and cut before placing on top of the milk chocolate football.

One of the funnest parts of football themed dessert ideas like this is that you can choose several different types of candies to please a variety of your guests’ tastes. I used 11 different types of candies, but you can do less or even more!

The snack size candies are great for your guests to graze during the party.
