What you need to make these easy tailgate desserts

Here are the ingredients and tools you’ll need to make this football themed dessert:
- 1 (14.1-ounce) package refrigerated pie crusts (2 dough rounds in the pack). You can also use your favorite homemade pie crust recipe if you prefer.
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or your favorite chocolate hazelnut spread)
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Butter-flavored cooking spray
- Parchment paper
- Pizza cutter
- Baking sheet
How to make this tailgate dessert recipe

To make this Pull-Apart Football Dessert recipe, start by preheating the oven to 400° F.

Unroll one circle of dough onto a piece of parchment. Using a pizza cutter, slice the top and bottom of the circles off to create an oval football shape with slightly pointed sides. Reserve the remaining dough scraps, as you’ll need them later to make the laces for the football shaped dessert.

Spread Nutella evenly over the crust, going all the way to the edges.

Place the second dough circle on top of the Nutella, then use the pizza cutter to trim the dough so it is the same shape and size as the piece below it, while completely covering the Nutella layer. Reserve the remaining dough.

Using a pizza cutter, cut 1-inch wide slices across the top and bottom of the football shaped dessert, leaving about 2 inches in the middle.

Twist each slice (you might have to be gentle depending on the crust that you use).

Mix sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl. Spray the top of the football dessert with butter-flavored cooking spray, then sprinkle the top generously with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Now it’s time to make the laces for your football themed dessert! To do this, slice a part of the reserved dough scraps into a long strip (about 6-inches long by 1/2-inch wide) and 6 smaller strips (about 1 1/2-inches tall and 1/2-inch wide). Arrange the strips on top of the cinnamon-sugar-mixture in the center to look like football laces.
Transfer the football dessert with its parchment paper to a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 13-15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crisp. Remove the pan from the oven.

When done baking, allow the football party dessert to cool on the baking sheet on a wire rack for 10 minutes before carefully transferring it from the parchment paper to a serving platter.

Look at these yummy, chocolatey, cinnamony strips!

Just pull off a strip, and you can even serve the dessert for tailgate parties with additional Nutella for dipping the strips into.
