Halloween is our favorite holiday, and one of our favorite holiday traditions is our family costume each year! This year we decided to do family Beetlejuice costumes inspired by the new movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! If you’re looking for Beetlejuice group costumes or Beetlejuice family costume ideas, these Beetlejuice movie Halloween costumes are easy to put together! We have a Beetlejuice Halloween costume, a Beetlejuice Delores costume (Beetlejuice wife costume inspired by the character in the new movie), a Beetlejuice Bob costume (the shrunken head guy), and a fun DIY Beetlejuice sandworm costume. I’m sharing all the details (including links to the products we used) below. I hope this inspires your own family Beetlejuice Halloween costume!

We love how the family Beetlejuice Halloween costume ideas came together. I’m detailing each individual costume below, so keep reading to see more about each one of the Beetlejuice group costumes. We took our photos in front of this brick wall backdrop, which we lit with green and purple lights for effect (and to match the aesthetic of the movie). This was a fun touch, and could also be a cool party backdrop for a Beetlejuice-inspired party.

You can’t do group Beetlejuice Halloween costumes without a Beetlejuice Halloween costume! Here is how we put this one together.

What you need for this Beetlejuice Halloween costume:

  • Beetlejuice costume suit
  • Black tie (the set we bought came with a costume tie, but we preferred the quality of a regular black tie)
  • Green costume hair color spray (if you have the right hair length; if not you can use a wig)
  • Costume makeup (white, black, gray, and green)
  • Crafting moss (we stuck this to the makeup in different spots)

We used green costume hair color spray, but you can also use a wig. For the makeup, we used a combination of white, black, gray, and green costume makeup, along with some craft moss stuck in a few places.

Beetlejuice Delores costume (Beetlejuice wife costume)

Beetlejuice movie Halloween costumes: Beetlejuice Delores costume

If you’re trying to decide on a Beetlejuice costume for women, there are a few characters in the new movie to choose from for your Beetlejuice movie Halloween costumes. For me, I decided I had to do a Beetlejuice Delores costume (a Beetlejuice wife costume) as soon as I saw her character on screen! This costume didn’t exist out of the box yet, so I put it together using various components, and I honestly love the results. Here’s how I did it.

What you need for this DIY Beetlejuice wife costume:

  • Sheer black off-the-shoulder dress
  • Black maxi skirt (to wear under the sheer dress)
  • Black corset (this one is perfect, but note that it runs small)
  • Long sheer fingerless gloves with a few holes cut into them
  • Black wig (unless you have a similar hair color and length)
  • White powder costume makeup
  • Black eyeshadow and eyeliner (to make a smoky eye and to draw Delores’ seams on)
  • Metallic silver liquid eyeliner (to draw the staples over the seams)

The only DIYs needed for my Beetlejuice Delores costume were to cut a few holes into the fingerless gloves and to draw the seams and staples onto myself using a combination of black and metallic silver eyeliner.

Beetlejuice Bob costume (Beetlejuice shrunken head costume)

My husband’s was another easy choice for our family Beetlejuice Halloween costume. He immediately volunteered to do a Bob (the shrunken head guy from Beetlejuice) costume. There were some Bob Beetlejuice shrunken head costume options for sale online, but all were pretty pricy, so we decided to do a DIY Beetlejuice Bob costume.

What you need to make a shrunken head guy from Beetlejuice costume:

  • Yellow zoot suit costume (chosen for the length of the jacket) with rolled t-shirts stuffed into the shoulders to raise them
  • Yellow, black, and white striped tie
  • Gray zentai mask
  • Shrunken head decoration, painted gray to match the mask plus additional black details, hair cut, with bulging eyes (made from painted small foam craft circles) added, then stuck on the top of the mask
  • Red nametag stickers with the name “BOB” written on

After painting the shrunken head figurine and cutting the hair, we attached it to the top of a zentai mask for our Beetlejuice shrunken head costume. We also stuffed rolled t-shirts into the shoulders of a yellow zoot suit costume to raise them higher. I know it still looks like my husband’s head is in there, but we thought it still turned out pretty fun!

You can find some pre-made Beetlejuice sandworm costume options online, but they’re mostly just onesies. Just like we did for one of our DIY Mandalorian Halloween Costumes, we decided to make a DIY Beetlejuice sandworm by painting an inflatable costume. Here’s what we used to make it and how it came together.

What you need to make a Beetlejuice sandworm costume:

  • Black and white striped onesie
  • Inflatable snake costume, painted with acrylic paint (black and white stripes on the body; red on the eyes)
  • White zentai mask
  • Costume makeup (blue, red, and black to add details to the mask for the sandworm face)
How to make a Beetlejuice sandworm costume

We found a costume of an inflatable snake that looks like it’s eating your head, and we thought it was perfect for our DIY Beetlejuice sandworm costume, since the sandworm has a head inside its head.

I painted the costume in black and white stripes using acrylic paint, and painted the eyes red. This was a bit tedious, but we LOVE the results of our Beetlejuice sandworm costume.

A striped onesie underneath and costume makeup to add details to a white zentai mask (for the sandworm face) completed the DIY Beetlejuice sandworm.
